The Story of Audemars Piguet
In 1875, in the Swiss village of Le Brassus, Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet created a watch manufactory specialised in complex watches. While Audemars Piguet has developed considerably since then, the spirit of high standards, inventiveness and watchmaking passion that drove its founder still persists, guiding the company in its choices each and every day.
Today, Audemars Piguet remains the oldest manufacturer of Haute Horlogerie, never to have left the hands of its founding families. More than 1,000 employees worldwide, including 750 on the three production sites located in Switzerland, and more than 27,500 watches produced each year, express its dynamism, its independence and its spirit of genuine creative daring.
Tradition, excellence, daring
Tradition, excellence, daring: it is based on these three fundamental values that manufacturer Audemars Piguet perpetuates the art of Haute Horlogerie. At each stage of its history, it has proved capable of adopting avant-garde technologies and of placing them in the service of hand craftsmanship, thereby creating exceptional timepieces. This approach has earned it an unmatched number of world firsts.
The art of Haute Horlogerie according to Audemars Piguet
While the manufacturer uses the most recent technologies in the development and production phases for each of its parts, decoration, assembly and adjustment are invariably performed by hand in keeping with traditional methods. For Audemars Piguet, a watch must be as beautiful inside as it is outside. The flanks are therefore satin-brushed, the wheels are sunray-brushed, the plates circular-grained, the bridges decorated with Côtes de Genève, the hammers mirror-polished and all parts are bevelled. And it precisely these long hours spent at the workbench that give each of the Audemars Piguet watches their inexpressible aura of emotion.
